The North East Regional Centre for the Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA) was inaugurated on February 27 at St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, by the National President of InSPA, Prof Panch Ramalingam.


InSPA is one of the biggest and most powerful professional organizations for school psychology in India, based at Pondicherry University, Puducherry. It has international connections and collaborations.

According to an update received here, from now on, all the activities and programs of InSPA in the Northeast region will be coordinated through its regional centre at St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, Nagaland. Prof Zavise Rume, Professor at SCERT, Nagaland, will be the Head of the InSPA North East Regional Centre at St Joseph University, Chümoukedima.

According to Prof Rume, InSPA has connections and collaborations with many countries across the world and expressed hope that the NE Regional Centre will bring the academic world closer to St Joseph University. He also proposed a training program on school psychology for teachers to make school psychology a universal service for all students.

Dr Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor of St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, expressed happiness over the opening of the InSPA North East Regional Centre at St Joseph University and encouraged the InSPA authority to sustain efforts for long-term collaboration to promote academic programs.

National President of InSPA, Prof Panch Ramalingam, in his speech, assured the gathering that they would promote school psychology in Northeast India through this Regional Centre.

Prof Wael MF Abuhasam from Palestinian Arab American University was one of the resource persons for this historic occasion. Other resource persons who spoke during the function included Dr D Rajendra, National Secretary of InSPA, and Dr Shripuja Siddamsentty, InSPA Clinical Psychologist.
