The two-week online National Workshop on “Research Methodology for College and University Teachers”, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research – North Eastern Regional Centre (ICSSR-NERC) and organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research & Development Cell (RDC) of Dimapur Government College (DGC), commenced today with great enthusiasm. Scheduled from March 17 to March 28, 2025, the workshop aims to enhance the research skills and methodologies of college and university teachers across the country.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Bhagirathi Panda, Director of ICSSR-NERC, Shillong, as the Chief Guest.

The event began with opening remarks by Dr. Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Coordinator of IQAC, DGC, who emphasized the importance of research in higher education and the need for continuous professional development among educators. This was followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Hare Krushna Parhi, the Workshop Director, who outlined the workshop’s objectives and its significance in fostering a culture of research excellence.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Bhagirathi Panda highlighted the critical role of research methodology in social science research and encouraged participants to utilize the workshop as a platform to refine their research skills. He also stressed the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing contemporary social issues.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Yelhi Vero, Workshop Co-Director, who expressed gratitude to ICSSR-NERC, the resource persons, and the participants for their active involvement.

The workshop has attracted 380 registered participants from 20 states across India, reflecting its nationwide appeal and relevance. Over the course of 19 technical sessions, 17 distinguished resource persons from reputed institutions will cover a wide range of topics, including research design, data analysis, statistical tools, and academic writing. The sessions are designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical insights, ensuring that participants gain comprehensive skills in research methodology.

The inaugural session was marked by a vibrant atmosphere, with participants eagerly looking forward to the enriching discussions and learning opportunities over the next two weeks. This workshop represents a significant step toward strengthening research capabilities among educators, and the organizers hope that press coverage will help secure larger funds for even more ambitious programs in the future.
