Mon District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) successfully facilitated the settlement of an insurance claim on March 19, 2025, for Mrs. Wannung, a resident of Mon, following more than six months of dedicated legal intervention. She had tragically lost her husband, Late Y. Yongna Konyak, in a landslide on June 25, 2022.
The case came to light when the State Bank of India (SBI) contacted Mrs. Wannung regarding an outstanding Non-Performing Asset (NPA) loan of Rs 2 lakhs. During the process, Mon DLSA intervened and discovered that she was eligible for an insurance claim under SBI General Insurance through her late husband’s policy. However, her claim had been rejected due to nominee discrepancies and procedural complications.
Recognizing the urgency of the matter, Mon DLSA immediately stepped in, offering legal guidance, assisting with documentation, and directly engaging with the insurance provider. Through persistent follow-ups and continuous legal efforts spanning more than six months, Mon DLSA successfully ensured the approval of her claim, resulting in a Rs 6 lakh settlement.
