The Chungtia Village Council organized a vibrant Moatsü Festival celebration at the GMS Sabangya Playground, Chungtia, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Chungtia community. Metsübo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development and SIRD, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In his speech, the Chief Guest thanked the Chungtia Village Council for the warm hospitality, expressing that he felt like a son of the Chungtia soil. Jamir also expressed his gratitude for being invited and promised his unwavering support for the visionary youth working towards progress. He acknowledged the assistance he received from Chungtia during the election and outlined ways in which he could help the village, assuring support for certain upcoming projects. He encouraged the community to continue promoting agricultural activities, noting that the village’s soil is ideal for cultivating a variety of crops.

The festival featured several special performances, including the Tug-of-War finals, where Sabangya won the women’s category and Longtsüktep claimed victory in the men’s category. A traditional cockfight also showcased the village’s cultural heritage. Additionally, a song dedicated to Metsübo Jamir was performed by Chungtia women, and a hornbill dance was performed.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Metsübo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development & SIRD; Sethrongkyu Sangtam, MLA and Advisor; W. Chingang Honyak, ex-Minister and Advisor; Benei M Kamthui, MLA; Onen Chang, MLA; Shun Santichaba, MLA; A Pongshi Phom, MLA; Temjemmoa Tamir, MD, Nagaland Minerals and Minds; Nokchasashi, Additional Secretary, Govt. of Nagaland; and Temsüchuba, SDO (Civil), District Administration.

The Chief Guest and dignitaries also visited stalls exhibiting local products, including cucumbers and silk textiles, which were available for purchase.

Assamwati Longchar, Chairman of the Chungtia Village Council, welcomed the gathering, while Anang Kichu highlighted the significance of the Moatsü Festival.

The Moatsü Festival celebration in Chungtia was a grand success, showcasing the village’s cultural heritage and promoting community unity.
