The Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) has officially suspended the second phase of its agitation, which involved restricting vehicular movement in protest against the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and M/S Ratna Infrastructure Project Pvt. Ltd. The protest targeted the noncompliance with the Union’s demands regarding the NH-29 Kohima to Jessami road (Package-II) project.

The Union’s statement reads, “The 2 Phase of agitation by restriction of Vehicular Movement… has been officially suspended as of 16 May 2025.”

Despite suspending the vehicular blockade, the CSU has made clear that it will continue to express “strong resentment over the unresolved issues.” The Union announced the launch of the third phase of agitation starting May 17, which will involve the display of black flags as a symbolic protest against the ongoing “negligence and inaction” of both NHIDCL and the EPC contractor.

The CSU reaffirmed its commitment to the cause, stating, “No Compromise. No Delay. Termination or Agitation Continues.” The Union further stressed that it will continue the agitation “until the demand is fulfilled,” urging for “transparency, accountability, and timely completion of the project.”

The statement was signed by CSU President Pfhulo Sara and General Secretary Kuzoto Swuro.
