Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to the people of Nagaland, the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) held a consultative meeting with the Lotha Hoho on May 15 at the Merapani Village Council Hall. The committee reiterated its adherence to the “2013 original alignments with exception to minor need-based alteration in line with the local context.”

According to the NFHRCC, the meeting was part of its ongoing efforts to fulfil “the commitments as pledged to the people of Nagaland since 2013” and to serve “in all humility.” The committee expressed its gratitude to the Lotha Hoho team led by Chairman Er Mhondamo Ovung (Retd. Chief Engineer, PHE) for initiating the program and for taking “a logical and transparent stand firmly on the original alignments inclusively.”

Following the consultative meet, the NFHRCC conducted site inspections at three bridge construction locations under the Baghty division. The bridges over the Sungkhaju and Jungju rivers, undertaken by M/S P. Mha-Tum & Co. and Quicker Enterprise respectively, were found to be progressing “up to the expectation.”

However, the committee raised concerns over the sluggish progress at the bridge construction site over River Tsumang. The project, being executed by M/S Pele Khezhie (NCSU), failed to meet expectations. “The Committee lamented its dissatisfaction on the slow progress of the work… and advised them to expedite the work as per the DPR and timeline given,” the NFHRCC stated.

Earlier, on May 13, the NFHRCC carried out a work dedication and site inspection at the foothill connectivity road near Rengmapani village. The road project, implemented by M/S T Albert Angami & Co., had a delayed start “due to certain inevitable circumstances,” but the committee noted that “the progress of the work is extremely satisfactory.”

The NFHRCC also extended a “warm welcome to the indigenous Nagaland Karbi Community” into what it described as “the NFHRCC fraternity.”
