The Shamator District Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (SDCSU) was formally inaugurated under the aegis of the Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) on Friday. The inauguration ceremony was graced by NCSU President Pele Khezhie as the special guest, in the presence of officials from the NCSU Head Office, Kohima, members of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC), and representatives from the District Administration.

In his address, Khezhie stated that the formation of the SDCSU is a step towards facilitating government developmental initiatives in the newly created Shamator district by empowering local contractors. He urged the members to actively engage in professional growth and to ensure mutual cooperation among themselves and with the district administration to guarantee equal opportunities for all local stakeholders.

Highlighting the importance of transparency in public works, Khezhie cautioned against the practice of “table tenders,” reaffirming the government’s standing order that all contract and supply works must be awarded through open tenders to uphold accountability.

He also appreciated the support and presence of the district administration and YTC leaders, expressing hope that their collaboration would strengthen the SDCSU and its efforts in contributing to the district’s development.

Deputy Commissioner Chubatemjen and YTC President S. Throngso Yimkhiung also addressed the gathering. Both officials encouraged SDCSU members to maintain high standards in executing works and to contribute meaningfully to the overall development of Shamator.

The program was chaired by SDCSU Vice President Ariba. Reverend Thsankiu, Pastor of Shamator Town Baptist Church, offered the invocation prayer, and SDCSU President Kiumuhean delivered the welcome address.
