Two government colleges in Nagaland recently held heartfelt farewell programs to honor their outgoing principals, recognizing years of dedicated service and notable contributions to their respective institutions.
Phek Government College farewell
On May 23, 2025, Phek Government College organized a warm farewell for its Principal, Dr T Tiakaba Jamir, who has been transferred to Dimapur Government College. The event took place at the college’s Conference Hall and was chaired by Dr Nutazo Lohe, Assistant Professor, Department of History.

The program began with an invocation by Mrs Vevolu Khamo, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, followed by a special performance by Seyieleno Nisa, Assistant Professor, Department of History, which set a reflective tone for the evening.
Speeches by key college representatives, including Shepalu Suyie (Vice Principal), Kuhusu (H.A.), Dr Levinu Sakhrie (IQAC Coordinator), Neiwe Mero (President, PGCTA), and Vevolu Khamo (HoD, Department of Education), expressed deep gratitude for Dr Jamir’s transformational contributions. Highlights of his tenure included infrastructural development and key academic milestones such as securing Permanent Affiliation with Nagaland University and NAAC Accreditation (B+ Grade).
Dr Jamir, known for his soft-spoken demeanor and strong work ethic, thanked the college community for their support and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence under new leadership. He described the small college community as having a profound impact on his life and expressed hope that the institution will keep advancing its motto, “Lighted to Light.”
The farewell concluded with words of gratitude from Jonathan Kikon (GS, PGCTA) and a benediction by Libemo Shitiri (L.D.A.), marking both an end and a new beginning for Phek Government College.
Pfutsero Government College farewell
On May 22, 2025, Pfutsero Government College paid tribute to its outgoing Principal, Dr Tialila, who completed an impactful 18-month tenure marked by significant achievements despite infrastructural challenges.

The farewell program, held in the college auditorium, featured speeches from faculty members Neipre-u Mero and Neichupe Kapfo, along with student leaders Tshewa Akami, Dietho Khatso, and Duti Sarah. They praised Dr Tialila’s approachable leadership style, unwavering support, and personal engagement with the college community.
Chairperson Chothazo Nienu highlighted Dr Tialila’s efficiency and dedication, emphasizing the importance of retaining talented leaders within the Chakhesang community.
During her tenure, Dr Tialila spearheaded several improvements, including the renovation of the library and auditorium, the introduction of the Best Performing Department Award, and the launch of student initiatives like the Earn While You Learn (EWYL) project, Yuva Tourism Hiking Club, and Project Aspire Prep School Classes.
She also promoted academic and co-curricular excellence through departmental monthly wall magazines, colloquium lecture series, and entrepreneurship skill development programs. Additionally, she secured key collaborations by signing MoUs with organizations such as Eagle Crest, the Research Foundation of India, and the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre.
In her farewell address, Dr Tialila expressed sincere gratitude for the support she received and her confidence in the college’s future progress. She described Pfutsero Government College as an institution close to her heart and encouraged continued pursuit of excellence.
Dr Tialila has been transferred to Wangkhao Government College.
