The Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, and Chairperson of the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA), S Supongmeren Jamir, chaired his first DISHA meeting held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Peren, on 9th July 2025.

The meeting was convened to review the progress and implementation status of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and development projects across departments in the district.
At the outset, ADC Peren, D. Robin, welcomed the Chairperson and his team on behalf of the district administration and the DISHA Committee members. He also invited the members attending the meeting to introduce themselves.

In his address, Jamir emphasized the need to bring in Central funds that have yet to reach the district and assured efforts to mobilize additional resources. He called for the effective implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes to ensure that development benefits reach the grassroots.

Describing DISHA as a key platform for addressing developmental challenges, Jamir urged officials to take full ownership of their responsibilities. He also stated that he would propose to the State DISHA Chairperson the idea of introducing inter-district competition among DISHA Committees to improve performance.

He further recommended inviting lead banks to future meetings, citing their role in providing loans and supporting economic activities. Additionally, he suggested inviting Village Councils to the meetings on a rotational basis to better understand community needs and promote inclusive planning.

Various Heads of Offices from key departments such as PHED, Social Welfare, and RD gave PowerPoint presentations, highlighting their activities, achievements, challenges, and areas requiring attention.

Jamir also interacted with officials to understand local concerns and assured that all genuine issues would be taken up at the appropriate level for necessary redressal.

The meeting concluded with a call for all stakeholders to continue working together to ensure development is inclusive, transparent, and accountable.
