The Forest Guard recruitment examination for 154 posts under the Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of Nagaland, was successfully conducted across the state on July 12, 2025, including in Mokokchung district, where the examination was held at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School.
Following the examination, misinformation began circulating on social media suggesting that the exam in Mokokchung was scheduled for Monday. This claim was accompanied by the circulation of a purported question paper of the exam. Dismissing the viral falsehood, DFO Mokokchung Dr Sentitula, IFS, clarified that the exam was conducted in Mokokchung on Saturday at the scheduled time, along with the rest of Nagaland. She expressed regret over the spread of misinformation.
Soon after the exam, an alleged copy of the question paper began circulating in various WhatsApp groups, prompting concerns from some users who speculated that Mokokchung had postponed the exam due to a clash with Nagaland University examinations.
Terming the circulated claims as “completely false,” the DFO shared timestamped photos of the examination proceedings to refute them. She confirmed that the question papers were received at 2:30 PM on July 11 and securely stored at the District Treasury Office.

On the morning of July 12, the sealed question papers were transported to the examination centre. A male and a female candidate, representing all examinees, verified the sealed box before it was opened. The exam was held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with 517 out of 525 registered candidates appearing. Eight candidates were absent.
After the exam, the answer scripts were sealed and packed within 30 minutes. Out of 528 printed question papers, 11 were unused and returned along with the unopened box. The sealed materials were dispatched at 1:35 PM in the presence of the District Level Screening Committee and school supervisors and submitted to the headquarters by 5:30 PM the same day. Mokokchung was the first district to submit the examination materials.
Dr Sentitula expressed dismay at the spread of false information, stating it undermines the efforts made to conduct the examination fairly and transparently. She urged the public to verify facts before spreading unverified claims and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to transparency and integrity in the recruitment process.
