“Chekrovolü is not only one of Nagaland’s most accomplished athletes but also a trailblazer for Indian archery,” the NOA said in a press release. She represented India at the London 2012 Olympic Games, becoming the second Naga athlete to compete at the Olympics. Her exceptional achievements earned her the prestigious Arjuna Award, one of India’s highest sporting honours, as well as Nagaland’s top sports accolade, the Dr. T. Ao Award.

NOA said that, throughout her career, Swüro has been a vital member of the Indian National Archery team, winning accolades at major events such as the World Championships and Asian Games. Notably, she was part of the Indian team that won the Gold Medal at the Archery World Cup in Shanghai in 2011, a proud moment for both the country and Nagaland.

“Her election as the First Woman President of the Nagaland Archery Association is a moment of pride and progress not just for archery but as a reflection of the growing role of women in sports leadership,” NOA stated. “As someone who has experienced the journey of an elite athlete first-hand, her insights and experience will be invaluable in shaping the future of the sport,” NOA added.

The NOA expressed confidence that her leadership will inspire and open new opportunities for young archers, and further reinforce Nagaland’s position on the national sporting map. “We look forward to working together to support the growth of archery and to strengthen the wider sporting ecosystem of the state,” NOA also said, while wishing her “every success as she begins this new and inspiring chapter in her sporting journey.”
