In a ceremony held on Independence Day 2025, Naik Takonungba of the 2nd NAP Battalion, Alichen was awarded the prestigious Governor’s Gold Medal.

According to a letter issued by the Home Department (Political Branch), Government of Nagaland, dated August 10, 2025, Naik Takonungba was recognized for his utmost devotion to duty and his instrumental role in improving and uplifting the RO Branch. The award stands as a testament to his hard work and dedication.

The recipients of the Governor’s Gold Medal were announced on Independence Day 2024, with the formal presentation taking place during Independence Day 2025. Other awardees include Sheta Lohe, SDPO (North), DEF Kohima;  Khrietouonuo Theunuo, Athletic Coach; and Hito Kino, who received the medal on behalf of The Nagaland Madrigal Singers.

The Governor’s Gold Medal is a distinguished honor conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and achievements, underscoring the importance of recognizing and rewarding outstanding contributions to the state and the nation.
