The first edition of the Centre Chakhesang Sports’ Association (CCSA) Open Football Tournament commenced today at Pfutsero Sports Complex, Pfutsero, under Phek district.
Nagaland’s Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, graced the opening ceremony as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he urged the players to remain dedicated and committed in their pursuit of excellence. He added that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, is committed to promoting sports and encouraged Naga youth to avail the various facilities being extended by the government.
He further urged the CCSA to intensify coaching camps for youngsters to help them excel beyond home turf.
Earlier, CCSA president Dode Nakro delivered the presidential address. The tournament will continue till August 22.
The tournament is registered under the Football Association Phek District. The champion will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1.20 lakh, while the runner-up will receive Rs. 70,000. The semi-finalists will get Rs. 10,000 each. Individual prizes will also be given for Golden Ball, Golden Boot, Best Goalkeeper, and Man of the Match.
