A District Level Quiz Competition for elementary-level students from government schools was held at Government High School (GHS) Dilong on Tuesday under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), a component of the Samagra Shiksha programme in Mokokchung.
District Education Officer (DEO) Sentinenla, in her introductory note, said the quiz is organised every year to encourage young students to participate in such important events that help nurture talents from an early age. She urged the participants and the gathering of students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided through the programme.
Engineer Imlisunep, Principal of ITI Mokokchung, graced the occasion as the guest speaker. In his address, he encouraged the participants to give their best efforts in every endeavour of life, citing personal experiences. He further stressed the importance of putting God first in all undertakings, including the day’s competition.
The competition saw participation from Class 7 and 8 students representing six educational blocks of the district. The contestants included Imtimenla (GHS Dilong), Imtijungla (GMS Aliba), Aojenla (Subong GHS Mongsenyimt), Shanti Lembu (GHS Changtongya-B), Shumi E. Konyak (GHS Changki), and Sentilemla (GMS Moayimti).
Questions covered subjects such as current affairs, mathematics, science, and technology. At the end of the contest, Imtimenla of GHS Dilong emerged as the winner, followed by Imtijungla as the runner-up and Shanti Lembu as the second runner-up.
The winners and participants received cash prizes and certificates. The district champion will represent Mokokchung in the State Level Competition scheduled for September 2025.
