The newly constructed Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Mokokchung, was inaugurated by Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio on Friday 29th April 2022.

In his remarks, the Chief Minister stated that the design and craftsmanship of the new DC office in Mokokchung was up to par and that it was made possible via collaborative efforts.

Recognizing the landowner’s noble gesture in providing the property, the CM stated that, unlike other regions of the nation, land and its resources belong to the people in Nagaland, and that land owners should donate land to the government for development.

According to Rio, most of Nagaland’s government buildings were built soon after the state was established and that they need to be renovated. He stated that when the time comes, other districts should follow suit and construct appropriate architect-designed buildings similar to the one that is currently being inaugurated. He also stated that the Administration and Police are two of the most vital departments. As such, he asked the two departments to strengthen their ties.

The district administration’s first obligation, Rio said, is to keep and maintain strong relationships with the people so that government runs smoothly. He also asked citizens to support and cooperate with the district administration for all-round development, stating that administration alone cannot function without citizens’ support.

Short speeches were delivered by Minister, Rural Development Metsubo Jamir; Advisor, CAWD & NSDMA, Kazheto Kinimi; Commissioner, Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor and Kichu Clan, Mokokchung Village, on behalf of land owners.

DC Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, presided over the event, while EAC (HQ), Imtinungla Longkumer offered the vote of gratitude. Rev. Temsuwati Kichu, Associate Pastor MTBA, pronounced the dedicatory prayer.

The event was attended by dignitaries such as Tongpang Ozukum, Minister of PWD (Housing & Mechanical); Imnatiba, Advisor, Industries & Commerce and NIDC; Er. Zale Neikha, Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports; and Aotula Imchen, S.P. Mokokchung.
