The Kohima Press Club, in collaboration with the Kohima District Administration, will organize a workshop on the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) with reference to the state capital, Kohima, on September 12 at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The NCAP is a Government of India initiative launched in 2019 with the goal of reducing air pollution across the country. It focuses on improving air quality in 131 non-attainment cities by targeting a reduction in Particulate Matter (PM10) concentrations. Nagaland’s Kohima and Dimapur are included in this list of non-attainment cities.

The workshop is being organized under NCAP’s action point on deeper public engagement and consultation with stakeholders. Over the past few years, the Kohima District Administration has been engaging with different stakeholders through lectures, competitions, and awareness programmes. This year, the District Administration is engaging with the media through the Kohima Press Club. The workshop is also part of the yearlong observation of the 25th anniversary of the Kohima Press Club, which is scheduled to culminate on January 20, 2026, with a grand celebration.

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, EAC Dr. Riku Khutso, and Kohima Press Club president Alice Yhoshü will speak at the workshop. Yanathung Kithan, a scientist from the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), will deliver a presentation on air pollution with reference to Kohima city.
