In a crucial meeting held at NECTAR Hall, Directorate of School Education, the Department of School Education (DSE) and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), along with its federating units, reached agreement on several measures to address teacher shortages and rationalization in the Eastern districts.
The meeting, chaired by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT, began with a welcome address and an opportunity for ENSF representatives to highlight pressing issues.
Key decisions include:
·Reversion of 33 transferred teachers from Eastern districts within a week, with exceptions only for serious medical or genuine cases.
·Posting of newly recruited GT Maths and Science teachers to the Eastern districts within a week to meet immediate teaching requirements.
·Formation of a Sub-Committee to study teacher shortages and surpluses and suggest rationalization measures. The panel will include representatives from the Department, Directorate, and ENSF, and will submit its report by 30th September 2025.
·Examination for re-deployment of 18 backlog Science and Maths teachers recruited in 2015 but currently posted outside Eastern districts.
Angami concluded the meeting with a note of thanks, emphasizing collaboration between the Department and student representatives to ensure effective implementation of rationalization measures.
