The first phase of a one-day seminar on ‘Chokri Jü Mu Küsçzhoko’ (Chokri language and its usages), organized by the Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board, was successfully conducted on 20th September 2025 at Vamuzo Memorial Hall, Chozuba Town for the Chozuba Range and CPO Conference Hall, Phek Town for the Phek Area, respectively.

The seminars, aimed at promoting the Chokri language in Chokri-speaking areas, drew enthusiastic participation from village councils, school teachers, Church representatives, and student bodies.

Attendance at the Chozuba seminar was 112 participants, while 85 participants attended the Phek seminar, demonstrating a collective commitment to literary and cultural preservation.

The seminar featured presentations by resource persons on the status of language development, emphasizing ongoing efforts and challenges in sustaining the linguistic heritage. The talks also highlighted the importance of mother tongue, reflecting on cultural identity and strategies for language preservation and promotion, in alignment with various language policies.

Community leaders underscored the urgent need for language development and appealed for increased government intervention to support these initiatives. Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue on fostering and safeguarding the linguistic heritage of the Chokri language. The seminars marked significant steps towards promoting the language and encouraging active community participation.

The second phase of the seminar for the Chokri Area and Centre Chakhesang will be announced after the heavy monsoon subsides and road conditions improve.
