The Department of Economics & Statistics has issued a notification on the digitization of old manual birth and death certificates through the ORGI Portal (crsorgi.gov.in), aiming to maintain a comprehensive digital registry of births and deaths within the state. The move comes in response to the increasing requirement of digital certificates by citizens and various institutions.
According to the notification:
· Certificates issued prior to 2014: Applicants must surrender the original manual certificates to the concerned Registrar, who will issue a new digitized certificate.
· Certificates issued post-2014: Applicants must
submit an affidavit approved by a District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, or an Executive Magistrate authorised by the District Magistrate, along with the original manual certificate.
· Only genuine certificates issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths and information already recorded can be digitized.
· District Economics & Statistics Officers (DESOs) are authorised to register birth and death events through the CRS ORGI Portal for rural registration units that have not yet been digitized.
The department urged citizens to comply with the procedures to ensure accurate and official digital records of births and deaths across Nagaland.
