Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla convened a coordination meeting on the Kohima–Dimapur National Highway (NH-29) at Raj Bhavan on Friday, where the progress and challenges of ongoing works along key stretches of the highway were reviewed.

The meeting discussed the status of works along the Peren-Dimapur, Kohima-Jessami, Kohima-Mao, and Dimapur-Kohima stretches. Officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the Public Works Department (NH) presented a detailed PowerPoint briefing on the current status of the projects.

Governor Bhalla stressed the need for proper drainage and sewage systems to ensure long-term sustainability of the highways. He also suggested exploring alternate connectivity in affected areas and underlined the importance of strict monitoring of overloaded trucks, particularly along the Nagaland–Manipur highway.

He urged all departments and agencies concerned to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of the projects for public benefit.

Commissioner and Secretary, NPWD, Kesonyu Yhome, apprised the Governor of specific highway locations where the State Government is carrying out management works.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from NHIDCL, NPWD, and the National Highways division. Also present were ADGP (Law & Order) Sandeep Tamgadge, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, B Henok Buchem, and Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima, Polan John.
