The Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) has expressed outrage over the alleged sexual harassment of a Class 9 minor student who is a member of the union, reportedly committed by Ajmal Hussian.
In a press release, the union described the incident as “not just teasing or misbehaviour, but a deliberate, repeated, and shameful violation of the girl’s dignity and safety.” The ZLSU called the act sickening and unacceptable, emphasizing that such behaviour could not be tolerated under any circumstance.
“We demand that the police authorities act without delay, and that Ajmal Hussian is immediately arrested and charged under all applicable sections of the law, including provisions under the POCSO Act and BNS (IPC). Justice must be swift, and it must be absolute,” the union stated.
The union also urged the Nagaland government and district administration to enforce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations strictly, calling it a protective mechanism to prevent “dangerous elements from entering and violating the peace of our land.”
Expressing solidarity with the victim, the ZLSU assured her of full support – morally, legally, and emotionally. It further appealed to the student community to remain alert and report any incidents of abuse.
“Enough is enough. ZLSU will not allow this incident to be brushed aside. We will continue to follow this case until the guilty is punished and justice is delivered,” the release said.
