The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has criticized the state government for excluding Non-Naga Indigenous Tribes from the recently announced police recruitment process, calling it a reflection of systemic marginalization.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the party acknowledged the government’s move to open 1,176 posts of police constables through an “Open Rally” but described it as “disheartening” that only applicants belonging to Indigenous Naga Tribes of Nagaland have been invited.

According to the RPP, this exclusion not only denies job opportunities to Non-Naga Indigenous Tribes but also “reflects poorly upon the policy makers of the state.”

The party said the omission is part of a larger issue concerning quota distribution in Nagaland. “While everyone has an opinion regarding the Backward Quota in the state in terms of review, revocation, suspension, or dilution, only a few speak out for the inclusion of the most marginalized communities, such as the Non-Naga Indigenous Inhabitants of the state, who, above everyone else, deserve the Backward Quota the most,” the statement read.

Urging the government to address the issue, the RPP stated: “The politics of the majority should not victimize the livelihood and the dignity of the non-Naga tribal minorities of the state.”

The recruitment notification was issued on September 30, 2025.
