The Department of Psychology, Nagaland University, observed World Mental Health Day by organizing a fest titled PSYCHSPARK, featuring reels and poster competitions and the making of a short film. A special programme was held on the theme “Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies,” with Prof. N. Venuh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kohima Campus, gracing the event as the Special Guest. He encouraged participants to find peace through sharing and adopting healthy exercises to release stress.

Dr. Hovisuto Khieya, JRF under a DRDO project, spoke on the theme and highlighted the growing concerns surrounding mental health in society. He emphasized the importance of accessible mental health services, particularly during crises. A first-semester student, Ziliro Zt Anar, presented a special number carrying the message “Suicide is never the answer.”

A highlight of the event was the screening of Eunoia, an original short film created by the department to raise awareness on mental health among students. The film underscored that “every mind matters and every act of kindness counts.” The programme, chaired by Kezhasenuo Kesiezie, guest faculty, concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Imlisongla Longkumer, Head of Department. Faculty, scholars, and students from various departments attended the event.
