A six-tyre dumper truck carrying sand and cement from Longthu village met with a serious accident around 12:30 PM today between Longkhim town and Chimonger village. The truck, transporting materials for church fencing in Chimonger, reportedly rolled down approximately 900 to 1,000 feet.
According to a report received here, the driver and his helper were brothers. The driver sustained severe injuries and was given first aid at CHC Longkhim before being referred to Mokokchung Hospital for further treatment. The helper remains untraced.
Local villagers, police, and the Longkhim administration have been conducting search operations for three to four hours, but the helper had not been located at the time of filing this report.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the helper’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts.
