MTLT urges PWD (NH) and contractor to expedite road maintenance works
A view of the deteriorated road condition of NH-2 at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung, highlighting the concerns raised by the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) over the need for urgent repair works.

During the meeting held at the office chamber of the Executive Engineer, a healthy discussion was held where views and concerns were shared on improving road conditions, especially with the monsoon season now over and the festive period approaching.

The MTLT stressed the need for the department to assess the damage caused by monsoon rains and to carry out repair works within a specified timeframe.

On the condition of the Sewak Gate–DEF–Chuchuyimpang stretch (NH-61, now renumbered NH-2), officials from the department and the contractor, M/S Trident Enterprises, assured the delegation that repair works would be completed by the end of Nov 2025.

The Telongjem reminded the contractor of their obligations under the Defect Liability Period (DLP) of the contract agreement and urged them to honor the terms “in letter and in spirit.”
Acknowledging that the monsoon had hampered repair works and caused extensive damage, the MTLT urged the department and contractor to resume work without further delay now that the dry season has begun.

The Telongjem also expressed its willingness to assist during the repair process, even offering to deploy volunteers if necessary. It further appealed to citizens of Mokokchung to bear with the inconveniences during the repair period and to cooperate with the concerned authorities and contractor.
