In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and as directed by the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland, Mokokchung district is set to conduct a series of activities from October 31 to November 25.

This was decided during a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, on October 28, 2025, where various departments were assigned specific responsibilities to organize the events.
Addressing a press conference, DC Verma informed that a Unity Run was held on October 31 under the Police Department. He added that Mokokchung will also hold a “Walk on Foot” (Padayatra) on November 6, starting from Town Hall Mokokchung to Imkongmeren Sports Complex. Another walk is tentatively scheduled for November 25, which will be coordinated by the ADC Mokokchung and the District Youth Officer.
A free health camp under the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung has also been planned in both rural and urban areas. A sub-committee under the CMO has been formed and informed that the health camps will be conducted in villages such as Yaongyimti New, New Camp, Mekuli, and others.
The District Education Officer (DEO) Mokokchung will organize educational workshops and seminars, as well as district-level debate, art, and poster competitions across 20 schools in the district.
Meanwhile, the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Mokokchung will hold exhibitions and awareness campaigns where photographs will be displayed and pamphlets distributed in two locations in Mokokchung.
Additionally, cleanliness drives will be organized in all municipal and town council areas. The concerned CEOs and EOs have been directed to submit their reports for compilation.
DC Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, appealed to the public and all stakeholders to actively participate and help spread awareness about these activities. He said the initiative aims “to spread awareness and recognize the contributions of the leaders.”
