The 1st State Pencak Silat Coaching Camp and Regional Referee Training Programme is underway from December 11 to 20, 2025, at Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy, Dimapur, with due approval from the Indian Pencak Silat Federation.

Organised by the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, the camp has brought together 67 Pencak Silat athletes and coaches from Nagaland and other northeastern states. Participants are undergoing intensive training focused on technical upgradation, performance enhancement, and officiating excellence in accordance with the latest international standards.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of experienced coaches from Nagaland, along with international referee and national coach Prem Singh Thapa, who recently qualified as an international referee at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain under the Olympic Council of Asia. His involvement has strengthened the referee training component through detailed exposure to international rules, scoring systems, refereeing protocols, and match management.
Pencak Silat is a globally recognised martial art governed by the International Pencak Silat Federation and featured in major multi-sport events. In India, the sport is officially recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India, while in Nagaland it is recognised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
The organisers said the camp aims to update athletes and officials on new techniques, competition formats, and refereeing rules, and expressed confidence that it will contribute significantly to the growth of Pencak Silat in the region.
