The Losami Students’ Union held its 64th general session and 37th freshers’ social from December 18 to 19 at the GMS Losa Basa playground in Losami village, Phek district. The programme was organised under the theme “Alchemy: Leveraging the potentialities” and was attended by students, community leaders and invited guests.

Director of Tourism, Nagaland, Veyielo Doulo graced the inaugural session as the inaugural guest. Addressing the students, he urged them to support one another rather than engage in rivalry that weakens collective progress. He called on the students to cultivate an environment of mutual respect and understanding to promote unity and peaceful coexistence. Referring to the theme, Doulo encouraged the union to adopt a comprehensive approach to thrive in a competitive world and advised students to make full use of their energy and opportunities while they are young. He also highlighted the importance of parental support in education, stating that sustained investment in children’s learning is essential for building a productive society.
Naga Students’ Federation president Mteisuding Heraang, who attended as an honoured guest, stressed the importance of quality education in shaping an equitable society. He said equality in education contributes to social equality and economic development. He also urged village councils to pay closer attention to the functioning of schools, particularly government institutions.
During the introductory session, Chakhesang Public Organization president Vezuhü Keyho encouraged students to avoid dependency and work towards excellence. Emphasising cultural values, he said heritage includes moral principles practised in daily life. Chakhesang Mothers’ Association president Zhonelü Tunyi advised students to limit excessive mobile phone use and focus on their studies and personal growth.
Greetings were shared by Chakhesang Students’ Union president Pfülo Sarah and Losami Village Council chairman Zechete Mekrisuh, while Middle Khomi Students’ Union president Bino Tenenu extended a solidarity message. The valedictory session was graced by Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Meluri, Wetsote K Swuro. The programme also featured academic excellence awards and cultural performances.
