The annual general meeting cum get-together programme of the Border Peace Coordination Committee (BPCC) Assam-Nagaland was held on Friday at Gandhi M.E. School, Bhagyalakhi, in the Titabar-Changpang circle near the Assam-Nagaland border.
Members from both states, including representatives from the Changpang area, Titabar area, Mokokchung, and the Mariani area, attended the meeting, an update received here said.
The programme began with a religious chorus presented by students of Gandhi M.E. School, followed by an invocation prayer by Rev. Huni Gogoi, Executive Secretary of the Assam Valley Baptist Association.
During the meeting, members discussed the annual general report, reviewed the BPCC Assam-Nagaland constitution, and deliberated on incidents along the border and the redressal mechanisms adopted over the past year.
The committee also discussed and approved the initiation of a free medical camp in the border areas next month. The medical camp will be sponsored by the Apollo Hospital Group and Chandraprabha Eye Hospital, Jorhat, and is intended to benefit border villages of both Assam and Nagaland.
The meeting was chaired by BPCC Assam-Nagaland President Jiten Buragohain, while the keynote address was delivered by coordinator Er. Temsu Wathi. The vote of thanks was proposed by BPCC executive member Gonesh Saikia.
Prominent local leaders were also invited and participated in large numbers. The programme concluded with a get-together feast.
