Kitoho S. Rotokha with others at the 38-U Kükami Trophy, ZASA on January 12.

Addressing the gathering, Rotokha expressed mixed feelings and stressed the need to revive and reassess ZASA’s functioning. He noted that the association has been using the same ground for over three decades without proper infrastructure. Highlighting the importance of soft power through sports, music, and culture, he urged youths to pursue their talents with dedication. Citing overemployment in Nagaland’s government sector, he emphasized the need to acquire skills to create opportunities. While acknowledging schools for providing quality education, he stressed the importance of holistic learning and incorporating co-curricular activities for students.

Rotokha also encouraged focus on skill development and sports and cautioned against compromising traditional titles, noting that the Sumi and Yimchunger tribes maintain hereditary village chieftainship systems. He highlighted that Article 371(A) protects the people of Nagaland and advised focusing on long-term benefits. He also called for serious attention towards developing a standard turf football ground.

The program was chaired by Akavi S Zhimo, Games and Sports Secretary of ZASA, and included an invocation by Dr Ikheto Awomi, Pastor of Natha Old Baptist Church, followed by a welcome address by Akukau Khekuto Zhimo, Chairman of Zunheboto.
