The Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO) and the Chakhroma Public Organization (CPO) Medziphema Circle have strongly condemned the violent attack on CPO leaders by Moava Village authorities and residents on February 13, 2026.

In a statement, WAPO described the act as “deeply disturbing and totally unacceptable in a civilized society,” calling the physical assault “a direct insult and aggression not only to the people of Chakhroma but to all which cannot be tolerated.” WAPO President Theyievilie Suohumvii and General Secretary Kezhaselie K Kuotsu stated that “our patience and generosity should not be tested and pushed to the limit,” stating that upholding the principle of mutual respect, peaceful co-existence and open mindedness “should not be construed as a weakness of our people.”

WAPO said that CPO has been working in the interest of all communities under its jurisdiction and therefore, if there is any grievance or disagreement, the matter should have been resolved through constructive dialogue. “Resorting to violence not only endangers lives but also damages the social fabric and unity of the communities,” it said.

WAPO also extended its full support to the statement issued by APO and SAPO.

“At this critical time, we reaffirm our commitment to peace, justice and constructive engagements. We also urge all community members to remain calm and refrain from actions that could escalate tension further. We encourage all stakeholders to resolve differences through dialogue,” it said.

Similarly, the CPO Medziphema Circle expressed “utter shock and profound condemnation” over the incident, stating that actions by certain youths, under the supervision of the Village Council Chairman and Gaon Bura, were “completely unacceptable, disgraceful and contrary to all standards of decency and ethical conduct.”

“Such behavior not only caused immediate harm to our leaders but also undermines the core values of our community which are founded on mutual respect, unity and integrity,” it added.

The CPO Medziphema Circle also said that it cannot “under any circumstances tolerate or justify the violence and the alleged premeditated attack on our CPO Leaders who had visited the village in good will and in spirit of cooperation.”

The organization also condemned the injuries sustained by the EAC, Medziphema Sub-Division, and IRB personnel who were at the scene to maintain peace.

It also urged every Naga to “come out and condemn such atrocities meted out to the CPO leaders and come forward to eradicate such evil and ingrates in our Naga society today for our secured and better future for the generations to come.”
