The Central Silk Board under the Ministry of Textiles, through its Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organization, P-3 Unit, Kubolong, has organized a Resham Krishi Mela at Kubolong in Mokokchung on February 20.

The programme was chaired by Zachivelu K. Doli, Director, Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland. Dr. Ravi Kumara R., Scientist, Central Silk Board, served as the programme organiser and coordinator. The event was attended by Vikehelie Pienyu, Additional Director, Directorate of Sericulture, and Immonger Pongen, District Sericulture Officer, Mokokchung. A large number of sericulture farmers from various villages across Mokokchung district, along with sericulture officials, participated in the programme.

During the mela, Eri and Muga sericulture technologies were exhibited for the benefit of farmers. Addresses were delivered by the Director, Additional Director, District Sericulture Officer and Village Chairman Imolemba.

Field demonstrations were also conducted on intercropping practices and host plant management techniques.

On the occasion, the “Best Muga Scientist Award” was conferred on Dr. Ravi Kumara R. in recognition of his contributions to sericulture development. Six awards were presented by the Central Silk Board to recognise outstanding sericulture farmers and self-help groups. Kileninla of Kobulong Block received the Best Eri Farmer Award, while Meyanukshi, Lanusangba and Alemsanen of Ongpangkong South Block were awarded Best Muga Farmer Awards. AJEMER and TSÜMOK SHG of Ongpangkong South Block received the Best Eri Self Help Group Awards.

The programme concluded with active participation from farmers and stakeholders, contributing to the promotion and development of sericulture in the region.
