The valedictory session of the International Conference on Chemistry in Multidisciplinary Research (ICCMR-2026) was held on February 20, 2026, at Lumami, marking the conclusion of the two-day conference organised by the Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University.
The session was chaired by Prof. Santosh K. Singh, Dean, School of Sciences. The conference report was presented by Prof. Ambrish Singh, Head of the Department of Chemistry and convenor of ICCMR-2026, who highlighted the key sessions, academic deliberations and active participation that made the conference meaningful. He also felicitated the distinguished guests with traditional waistcoats and souvenirs as a mark of appreciation.
The prize distribution ceremony recognised outstanding academic contributions. The Best Oral Presentation award was presented by the chief guest, Ajit Kumar Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, while the Best Poster Presentation award was conferred by the guest of honour, Colonel Bhanoo Pathak, Commanding Officer of the Assam Rifles.
In his valedictory address, Prof. Santosh K. Singh expressed gratitude to all speakers for their insightful presentations and acknowledged the efforts of the students, research scholars and organising team for ensuring the smooth conduct of the conference.
Addressing the gathering, Colonel Bhanoo Pathak shared reflections from his academic journey and military career, emphasising the importance of fundamental truths and life lessons. He encouraged research scholars, faculty members and students to pursue their goals with determination.
Ajit Kumar Verma spoke on the critical role of chemistry, particularly in medical science, noting its immense constructive and destructive potential and the responsibility that accompanies such knowledge. He urged students and researchers to collaborate actively and explore innovative research avenues.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Nurul Alam Choudhury, who expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, speakers, participants and organising committee for their contributions, bringing ICCMR-2026 to a successful close.
