Celebrating literature and tradition, Don Bosco College Kohima conducted its 1st Literary Fest on February 21 under the theme “Literature, Lore and Legacy.”

In his welcome address, Fr Dr Tious Varghese (Principal, DBCK) , extended gratitude to the twenty attending Institutions, faculties , students , guests and partners who contributed in the success of the Program. Viketuno Rio (Proprietor of ‘The White Owl’ ,Chumoukedima graced the occasion as the guest speaker .
”In recent years India has witnessed ordinary rise in Literature festival. From large cities to small towns, this gathering have become vibrant spaces, where readers ,writers and thinkers come together, she said.
Literature Festivals bring books out of private spaces into public life. They create opportunities for young minds to meet authors, encounter ideas, to listen, to question and to begin a journey as reader, Rio said.
“Every person who reads becomes someone, think independently and a society of readers becomes a society that cannot be easily silenced or misled. That is why spaces like this Literature Festival matters,” she said.
A thought-provoking panel discussion featured Vishü Rita Krocha (Author, Penthrill Publication House), Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu (Kohima College), and Dr. Sentinaro (Baptist College) as resource persons and moderated by Bendang Jamir.
The resource persons shared insights on crafting legacies, their writing journeys and how writing bridged personal growth and community impact.
Guest Judges Dr Sentinaro, Runshito Lims, and Kevilenuo Roselyn Miachieo reflected on poetry’s impact on their lives.
They shared insightful reflections on how their personal experiences shaped their storytelling and writing journeys.
In extempore and Performative Poetry contents, young, vibrant, and talented participants from different Institutions showcased their literary creations, illuminating the program with fresh perspectives.
The event featured special performances by Menangkokla Imchen and Toshi Aier.
The program was chaired by Rachel Tungoe while vote of thanks was proposed by Neikethonuo Chielie.
Senjano N Murry and Kewale Wozah prayed for program.
The 1st DBCK Litfest concluded on a successful note, enriched by the different partners- Knowledge partners – Penthrill, 6th Finger Publishers, The Feather Bookmark, Bark weaver .
