Even though our Nagaland has different tribes, the practices of our traditions and customs are similar in various ways, in which rearing and killing of domesticated animals like pig, dog, cow, bison, goat, etc., eating its meat and selling them whether in small portions or life weight is practiced since time immemorial, and is practiced as a way of life, or a tradition.
The Indian government may lay down different kinds of laws but we cannot apply each one of them in Nagaland unless the Nagaland Legislative Assembly pass it.The constitution even gives us the right to practice our traditions and customs. Therefore, if the NLA have passed a resolution where a certain domesticated animal or animals is banned to eat and sell, then please share in the public platform where everyone can understand it. After which, the concerned citizens will give an ultimatum to the lawmakers to take it back, failure to which you will witness the same fate of the Sri Lankans that we see on the TV screens everyday in Nagaland. Let’s see who lives. The animal worshippers or the meat eating people.
It is our first duty to oppose and correct if such law has been passed by the NLA, if not, the people who oppose to such consumption and sale of it are people who are uncultured and unmannered. There are people who try to point everything out, make unnecessary issues but don’t think that you’ll talk about it the whole day in the court. I’m not encouraging anyone for bloodshed, but know this, in a land that has been acquired through bloodshed, it is very easy to shed blood before going to the court.
For example, a person or a group can start organic farming keeping in mind about the fact that using fertilizers and pesticides is harmful to the environment and health. He can get registered and name it as Organic Society, but it is only for himself and his plot of land. He cannot force someone to do the same or even think about checking on another’s field if they are using fertilizers and pesticides.
Dear GBs and Police, you cannot go to any normal field for checking when that organic society tells you to for the said matter, but instruct him to go to a mental hospital as he is mentally ill. Know that getting a society registration is for yourself only and it cannot be used to control the people around you to do the same.
It will even cost people’s life if its not utilised as it should be. Getting that registration of a society should not be misunderstood as becoming a Chief of Army or Deputy Commissioner.
