Mokokchung Athletics, in collaboration with MY Bharat, will organize the My Bharat ASMITA FIT INDIA sporting event on March 7 at Imkonmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, as part of the nationwide observance of International Women’s Day 2026.

The event is being conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through the Sports Authority of India and MY Bharat, Mokokchung Athletics said in a press release. It is aligned with the Government of India’s flagship ‘Sports for Women’ initiative, ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action), under the Khelo India Scheme.

Mokokchung Athletics has invited women and girls across all eligible age categories to participate in the event, which aims to strengthen women’s participation in sports and promote fitness at the grassroots level. Since its launch in 2021, ASMITA has conducted over 2,500 leagues nationwide, engaging more than 2.9 lakh women athletes in 34 disciplines across all States and Union Territories and over 600 cities and districts.

The Mokokchung edition seeks to mark International Women’s Day through sports and physical activity, promote the ASMITA initiative locally, encourage mass participation in athletics and create awareness on fitness, health and sporting culture among women and youth.

The competition will include track events of 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres, and field events of Shot Put and Long Jump. Participants will compete in Under-13 years, 13-18 years, and Above-18 years categories.

Age verification will be conducted at registration through Aadhaar Card or other valid government-issued proof. A maximum of 128 participants per event per age category will be allowed. Track events will follow heats, semi finals and finals.

Digital certificates will be issued through the ASMITA Portal, and medals awarded to the top three finishers in each category. For further information, participants may contact 8798437988 or 76290 14187.
