The Department of Sociology, Nagaland University, organised a book launch programme on February 27, at the Conference Hall, Administrative Complex, Nagaland University. The book, titled Sociology of Infrastructure: Perspectives from Northeast India, edited by Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Dr. Suraj Beri, was formally released in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.K. Patnaik as the special guest, along with the Director, IQAC, the Director, CDC, Deans of Schools, faculty members, research scholars, and students.

Dr. Yamsani Srikanth, Tribal Research Centre, Department of Sociology, Nagaland University, chaired the programme. Prof. Patnaik congratulated the editors and contributors for bringing out a significant and timely academic volume highlighting infrastructural processes and transformations in Northeast India.
Speaking about the book, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Dr. Suraj Beri outlined the central themes and emphasised the importance of examining infrastructure through sociological perspectives rooted in the regional context. They emphasised the centrality of social relations, community identities, cultural contestations, and top-down governance models in shaping infrastructures. Contributors also shared their reflections on the making of the book and the broader relevance of infrastructure studies in contemporary times.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Dipika Paul, Department of Sociology, Nagaland University.
