The Nagaland Legislative Assembly is set to begin the first phase of its 2026–27 budget session on March 2, with five sittings scheduled until March 12. The session will kick off with the Governor of Nagaland, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, addressing the House, followed by discussions on key public matters, annual administrative reports, and committee presentations.

The second phase of the session will see Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio present the state budget for 2026–27, after which detailed discussions and deliberations on allocations and policies are expected. Observers note that this session will be closely watched for developments on critical issues impacting the state’s governance and public welfare.

Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye has been appointed as the party chief whip of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) legislature party.

The appointment, effective February 27, was made by the President of the NPF under powers conferred by Article V, Clause 10 of the party constitution.

As chief whip,  Kenye will be responsible for ensuring party discipline and facilitating smooth conduct of legislative business, a role seen as pivotal during the budget discussions.
