United Brothers CC and Trebuchet CC registered convincing victories on the second day of the ongoing 34th Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) Inter Club Cricket Tournament 2026 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Tuesday.

In the first match of the day, United Brothers continued their winning run with an imposing 145-run win over Sovran CC. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, United lost opener Mughavi Sumi (4) early to Yanger Pongen, who completed a caught and bowled in the first over. Despite the early breakthrough, the Sovran bowlers failed to maintain pressure as United Brothers built steady partnerships and posted a massive 240 for 5 in 20 overs.

Tiasunep (20), Hem (32), Nripen Rai (43), and Imnatoshi (19) made useful contributions. Merenkaba anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 78 off 34 balls to earn the Player of the Match award, while Imtisunep remained not out on 27 from 15 deliveries.

For Sovran CC, Merenshilu bowled an economical spell of 23 runs in four overs and picked up a wicket. Temsulong claimed two wickets, while Yanger Pongen, Merenshilu and Yangerlong took one wicket each.

Chasing 241, Sovran were bowled out for 95 in 17.4 overs. United Brothers used nine bowlers in the innings, with seven of them picking up at least one wicket. Merenkaba took two wickets, while Chubamaong, Nripen Rai, Imlitongzuk, Mughavi Sumi, Hem and Sentiakum claimed one wicket each. The innings also saw two run outs.

Moanungsang top scored for Sovran with 26 runs, while Merenchemba (19) and Oling Jamir (16) were the only other batters to reach double figures.

In the second match, Trebuchet CC returned to winning ways with a six-wicket win over Tritons CC. After being asked to bat first, Tritons posted 129 for 9 in 20 overs. Shamphri Terang top scored with 20 runs, while Hiketo Aye (18), Viza (19) and Anoksangba (18) made modest contributions. Tajen and Mohammad Kaif picked up two wickets each, while Imnayanger, Imlikokba, Toshiwapang and Ganesh Sharma took one wicket each.

Trebuchet chased down the target in 15.1 overs, powered by Ganesh’s quickfire 61 off 26 balls, which boosted the team’s net run rate and could come in handy as the tournament progresses. Imlitemjen scored 23 while Mohammad Kaif remained unbeaten on 23 to guide the team home.

Hiketo Aye was the pick of the bowlers for Tritons, scalping three wickets, while Temjenmeren was the only other successful bowler to claim a wicket.
