The District Water & Sanitation Committee (DWSC), Kohima, reviewed the implementation of drinking water and sanitation schemes in the district at a meeting held on March 12 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall.

Executive Engineer, PHED Kohima Rural, Er. Kedo Punyü, highlighted progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission, reporting that 25 villages in Kohima district have achieved ‘Har Ghar Jal’ status, with 12 of them verified through the eGram Swaraj portal. He also discussed ongoing sanitation initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and outlined community-level activities organised during the nationwide Jal Utsav campaign, which runs until March 22 to mark International Women’s Day and World Water Day.
The meeting also saw the handover of a motorised waste disposal vehicle to Chechama Village Council to support sanitation efforts. PHED officials assured that water supply connections would be extended to all health centres and government schools wherever nearby sources are available.
PHED Kohima District Coordinator, Ashale, urged community participation to ensure proper utilisation of resources and highlighted efforts to improve water conservation and sustainable water management at the village level.
