The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland, has constituted a Screening Committee to examine proposals related to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the forthcoming bye-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency. The committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, includes the Principal Secretary (Home) and the administrative head of the concerned department.

The committee will examine proposals from government departments during the MCC period and forward only cleared proposals to the CEO, who will then submit them to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Departments have been instructed not to send proposals directly to the ECI or forward original files, ensuring that only vetted submissions are considered.

Ahead of the election, the General Observer, Dr Neeraj Shukla, IAS, convened a meeting with district election officials, police, flying squad teams, media monitoring team and video monitoring units at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Mokokchung, on 19 March 2026. During the meeting, officials briefed the Observer on the district’s election management arrangements and security setup.

The ECI has also appointed D Sreedhar Reddy, IRS, as Expenditure Observer. Both observers will be available daily from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Commissioner’s Guest House to interact with political parties, candidates, and the public for grievances, clarifications, or complaints.

These steps, part of the standard election process, reflect the procedural mechanisms in place for the conduct of the by-election.
