Team Nagaland secured a total of seven medals at the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 held in Chhattisgarh, with strong performances in athletics and archery.
Nagaland’s archers delivered an impressive showing, contributing four medals to the tally. The Women’s Recurve Team, comprising Ruovinuo Theünuo, Vesevolu Swuro, and Kevikieno Rikha, clinched gold after defeating Jharkhand in a closely contested final. The Compound Women team of Rovine Domeh, Vetavolü Rhakho, and Lotsülü Sazo secured a silver medal.
In individual events, Ruovinuo Theünuo staged a remarkable comeback from two sets down to win bronze in the Women’s Individual Recurve. She also added another bronze as part of the Recurve Mixed Team alongside Keneisao Theünuo. The Women’s Team was further recognized as overall first runners-up.

In athletics, Wede T Mero won gold in the men’s 10,000 metres, while Rüduolhounuo Rachel Belho claimed silver in the women’s 100 metres. Tsuchoi T added a bronze in the 5000 metres event.
With one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in archery alone, Nagaland’s total medal haul stood at four in the discipline.

Overall, the state finished with seven medals across events and placed 12th in the medal standings among 25 participating states and Union Territories.
