The newly constructed District Transport Office (DTO) Complex at Model Colony, Purana Bazaar, near the ISTT Complex, was inaugurated on April 7, marking a significant milestone in transport infrastructure development in the district.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Temjenmenba, Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, who termed the new complex a major step toward improving transport administration and public service delivery. He urged officials to ensure effective utilisation of the facility and provide efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.
He noted that the Transport Department is a key revenue-generating department and emphasised the importance of professional conduct in public dealings. He also highlighted the department’s role in addressing financial challenges following changes recommended by the Finance Commission of India.
Robert Longchari described the inauguration as a renewed commitment to better service delivery, stressing professionalism and accountability.
During the technical presentation, Renben Kikon informed that the project was completed at a cost of Rs 499.86 lakh within 28 months, ahead of schedule.
The complex includes a two-storey RCC building with sections for vehicle registration and driving licences, office spaces, a conference hall, parking facilities, and other supporting infrastructure. (With DIPR inputs)
