The All Nagaland Physical Education Graduate Union (ANPEGU) has appealed to the state government to urgently address vacancies in the sports and physical education sector, calling for immediate recruitment across multiple departments.
In a press release, the ANPEGU drew attention to what it described as an urgent need for strengthening the sports and physical education workforce in Nagaland. It urged the Department of Youth Resources and Sports to “take immediate steps for the advertisement and filling up of vacant posts of District Sports Officers (DSO), Physical Instructors (PIS), and Coaches.”
The ANPEGU further stressed that all such vacant posts should be duly requisitioned through the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) and the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
Extending its appeal to the Department of School Education, ANPEGU called for the advertisement of all vacant posts of Physical Education Teachers in government schools. It stated that the recruitment process should be routed through the NSSB and NPSC as per applicable norms.
The Union also urged the Department of Higher Education to initiate recruitment for vacant posts of Assistant Professor in Physical Education in government colleges. It emphasized that these posts must be requisitioned through the NPSC in line with prescribed procedures.
The Union maintained that timely recruitment to these key positions would have a direct impact on the growth of sports in the state. It stated that such measures would “significantly contribute to the overall development of sports in the State, enhance athlete performance, and create a structured pathway for talent identification and progression.”
Reaffirming its commitment, ANPEGU said it remains supportive of initiatives aimed at promoting and developing sports and physical education in Nagaland.
