The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has reiterated its demand to the Public Works Department (Roads and Bridges) that the proposed second phase of work under the Foothills Road project be issued on the basis of administrative approval already accorded in 2024, through an open and transparent tender process without bias or favouritism.

In a press release issued on May 15, the NFHRCC also stated that the move should be taken while awaiting formal approval of any “mega project” from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

The NFHRCC said the matter was discussed during a consultative meeting held on May 9, with Dimapur-based tribal Hohos and core committee members.

It further announced that a joint meeting will be held on May 19 at its base office in Kher Mahal, Dimapur at 11 am. The meeting will include all 15 apex tribal Hohos of Nagaland, in line with the April 14 resolution adopted at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, where a proposed public agitation was kept in abeyance following requests from stakeholders.

The NFHRCC urged all concerned organizations to attend the meeting positively.
