Ura Academy begins 56th Annual Seminar

During the inaugural programme, Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie said language as a subject of study is highly interesting and has evolved over time. He pointed out that the efforts made by Ura Academy to promote Tenyidie involve a huge task and stressed the need for people to speak and communicate in Tenyidie in daily life to strengthen the language.

Kesiezie also warned that people should be careful as nothing can replace one’s own language, which represents culture and identity.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Daso Paphino, who said that Ura Academy belongs to everyone irrespective of profession, as it collectively represents all who speak the Tenyidie language.

He noted that with rapid changes taking place, taking the Tenyidie language forward requires collective effort, in line with the seminar theme “Paving Language Progression.”

The programme was chaired by Kereivilie Kire and included special performances by Ato Nienu and Colored Keys, while a folk song was presented by Ülikhri. A report on the Tenyidie Learning Centre at GHS Razeba was presented by Arele Sakhamo.

A Class 9 textbook published by the Ura Academy Textbook Division was released by Asano Sekhose.

Earlier in the day, a seminar involving Literature Boards of Tenyimia communities was conducted with Kikruneinuo Liezietsu leading the programme.

A moment of silence was also observed in memory of late Khotuoü Liezietsu, a member of the Ura Academy Advisory Board, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony in her remembrance.

The annual Tenyidie Seminar will conclude on Friday.
