‘Prepare prayerfully as we await the celebration of the 150 years Jubilee’
The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) has been initiating an ‘open air prayer and fasting,’ with thankfulness, on account of 150 years of Christianity since March 2022, an update from ABAM Impur informed. The same has been conducted so far at Jangjanglong Moapu (Waromung), Ongjina Tenem (Merangkong), Maipang Tenem (Khar), and Mongoya Prayer Garden (Chuchuyimpang), which was attended by full-time ministers from 22 churches. It was mentioned that ABAM will continue to hold more open air prayer and fasting.
“There is power in prayer, and we are assured that nothing is possible without prayer. As God’s gracious presence led us through the 150 years, we need to ask for his blessings by first confessing our sins, for which this prayer program is organized,” the update read. Saying that there is no greater joy and boon than to see the ministers of God bowing down on the open ground and praying for forgiveness, the update further read, “It has been a joy to see the tears of the devoted people praying to God to bless our land and we believe that there are brighter days ahead.”
Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM, through the update, has exhorted the believers to reason together. “Isn’t it a blessing that since the arrival of Christianity, God has not taken His Spirit away from us? If God’s Spirit departs from us, we will return to the ground, and all our plans will perish (Ps. 146:4). Human life on this earth is short. Yet, may the same spirit motivate us to recognize God’s blessings in our lives as we glorify His name,” he said. He also said that every individual, family, church, and society must seek to honor God alone to receive His blessings this Jubilee.
“To be able to shun evil is true understanding, and this understanding comes from God alone (Job 28:28). As we talk about glorifying God, our faith and understanding may be threatened by the ways of the world. Yet, ‘let us glorify His name for this is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes (Ps. 118:23),” he added. He also called upon all believers to prepare prayerfully as they await the celebration of the 150 years Jubilee.
