The National Immunisation Day (NID) and Pulse Polio Programme was launched at Imlong Place, Mokokchung, on Saturday.

Assistant Commissioner Madhavi Ravi, IAS, administered the first polio drops for 2026 in the presence of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Tiasunep, District Programme Officer (UIP&RCH) Dr Limanaro and health staff.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Tiasunep urged health workers and volunteers to continue working together to keep India polio-free. He called on them to ensure that “not a single child below five years of age is missed” during the immunisation drive in the district.

He also thanked the district administration, DPRO, Indian Red Cross Society, Rotary Club Mokokchung, village and ward councils, NGOs and allied departments for their continued support.

The programme was chaired by Dr Limanaro, while the invocation was pronounced by Smti Narosenla of CED MTBA. House-to-house mop-up activities under the NID campaign will be conducted on June 29 and 30.

Dimapur24x7 Foundation, in association with Dimapur District Hospital, observed National Immunization Day 2026 and National Pulse Polio Day on Sunday by administering polio drops to children aged below five years at designated booths in Dimapur.

The immunisation drive was conducted under the leadership of Dimapur24x7 Foundation Chairperson Annie Jain at New Market and Erose Line Assam Bus Stand. Volunteers and healthcare personnel worked together to ensure that every eligible child received the life-saving vaccine.

The programme received a positive response from the public. Although some parents and guardians were initially hesitant, volunteers and healthcare workers interacted with them, addressed their concerns and convinced them about the importance and safety of immunisation.

The Foundation thanked the staff of Dimapur District Hospital, volunteers, parents and all those who supported the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting public health awareness and community welfare programmes in the district.

Along with the rest of the country, Peren district launched the National Immunization Day programme at District Hospital, Peren, on Sunday.

The programme was inaugurated by Vekhohu Puro, NCS, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), New Peren, who administered the first polio drops to mark the occasion.

The inaugural function was chaired by Zhochilu Venue, Block Programme Manager, while Dr Velentina Neikha, District Programme Officer (RCH & UIP), delivered the keynote address.

Addressing the gathering, Puro stressed the importance of vaccination and healthy living, urging parents and health workers to become ambassadors for creating awareness about various health initiatives undertaken by the medical department.

He emphasised that “no child should be deprived or left out of polio” and called for ensuring that every eligible child in the district receives immunisation.

The invocation was pronounced by Nursing Sister Neingutuonuo.
