The Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland, has signed a partnership with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama to strengthen collaboration in music education, artistic development and cultural exchange.

The partnership was formalised during the official visit of Brian Weir, Dean of Students at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, who visited Nagaland from June 17 to 21 to explore opportunities for long-term cooperation between the two institutions and their wider creative communities.
During his visit, Weir interacted with Nagaland’s music fraternity and visited several institutions, including the TaFMA headquarters, Music Academy Kohima, Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts, Margaret Shishak College of Music and Tetso College. The engagements provided a platform for discussions on building stronger connections among music institutions, artists, educators and cultural stakeholders.
Weir also visited the Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter at the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH), where he witnessed the role of music education and community engagement in nurturing young talent and creating opportunities through the arts.
As part of his visit, he joined the World Music Day celebrations and experienced the diverse musical talent and cultural expressions of Nagaland’s artists. The event highlighted the state’s growing creative ecosystem and its efforts to take music and the arts to wider national and global platforms.
According to TaFMA, the partnership marks an important milestone in strengthening future collaboration between the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Nagaland’s music and cultural institutions, paving the way for innovation, learning and lasting global connections.
