Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ato expressed hope that the gate would usher in prosperity, peace and unity. Recalling that traditional Naga village gates symbolise protection and blessings, he prayed that everyone passing through the gate would be blessed with good health, safety and well-being.

In his address, Sekhose said, “May this gate stand tall for the unity, peace and progress of the state capital.”

Thanking Dr Ato for constructing the gate for the residents of Merhülietsa Colony, he said, “Your iconic project has given us more than iron and concrete. You have given us dignity. This gate carries our culture, security, unity and identity as a colony and as a state.”

Expressing hope that all who pass through the gate would experience the spirit of oneness, Sekhose added, “This gate is open to everyone. It need not be closed again for fear of enemies, intruders or outsiders because we know that Almighty God is our protector.”

The programme was chaired by Merhülietsa Colony Youth Working President Vizolie Viluo, while Rev. Vizolie Zhale, Pastor of CRC Merhülietsa, offered the invocation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dilo Koza, Vice Chairman of Merhülietsa Council.
